Originally from San Francisco, I'm a freelance journalist based in Istanbul, where I write about the arts, culture, the environment, lifestyle, travel, and urban issues while exploring the city's many corners, snapping pictures, and practicing my Turkish. My work has appeared or will appear in California, Dance Gazette, Ethical Corporation, J Magazine, The National, Salon.com, Selections, Sierra, Time Out Istanbul, and Wired, among other print and online publications.
I'm blogging about environmental issues in Turkey, the region, and around the world for TreeHugger.com and recording my personal experiences and observations as an expat at The Turkish Life. You can also find me on Flickr and on Twitter, as @TheTurkishLife (Turkey-related) and @jenhattam (general).
